Sarah Chalke
Sarah Chalke was conceived in Ottawa,
Ontario, Canada on 27 August 1976. Angie Chalke is her mother and Doug Chalke
are her father. She is the middle of two brothers, the older one, Natasha
Chalke, one younger, Piper Chalke. Sarah began her acting career in a
television movie, City Boy (1992). After her first film Sarah was a candidate
for the role as Becky in Roseanne (1988) in 1993. The show was seeking someone
to replace Alicia Goranson, who left the show to pursue university. Sarah
graduated high school in 1995 and began filming the 1994-95 Roseanne (1988)
season. Sarah also starred with Jim Varney (1994) in Ernest Goes to School
(1994). She starred in Robin of Locksley (1996) and Stand against Fear(1996).
In these films Sarah played the role of Krista Wilson as the cheerleader. Sarah
was asked to be a part in a 1998 show called Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy.
This was one year following Roseanne (1988). The show was based on a TV movie
with the same name which was called Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998), which
Sarah was also in. Sarah took over Becky's (1988) role from Alicia Goranson. It
was stated that she would like to quit acting and go to college. 2001
(1993-1997) She played Sara Gilbert's older sister on Roseanne (1988) however,
she is actually younger. Participated in the 1999 CCMA Award Ceremony, where
she received an award for the top single of the year. September 1999: Appeared
in local Vancouver theatre productions aged 8 years old. Fluent in French and
German. She works at a hospice that cares for children who are terminally ill
and works with the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund. In her leisure time, Chalke
prefers cooking with other friends (especially Thai and sushi) and playing
guitar as well as hiking, skiing (she's an instructor), snowboarding, kayaking
and reading. Her father is a lawyer, and both of her parents are mediators who
also run an agency for child adoption. In the past she went with her parents to
China to oversee the adoption of orphans.
